How to win back customers who've gone quiet
4 min read
Know who 'quiet' means
Every trade has a natural rhythm — six weeks for a haircut, six months for a dental check-up, a year for a boiler service. A customer is 'quiet' when they've gone noticeably past their usual gap. List them.
Lead with warmth, not a discount
'We haven't seen you in a while — everything all right?' works better than a cold promotion. If you add an incentive, keep it small; you're reminding them you exist, not buying them back.
Make returning effortless
Include a direct way to book or order in the same message. Every extra step ('call us to book') loses people.
Respect a no
If someone doesn't respond to one or two messages, stop. And anyone who opts out must come off the list immediately — that's not just polite, it's the law (UK GDPR and PECR).
Automate the remembering
The hard part is remembering who's due a nudge. PRYVELA tracks each customer's rhythm and drafts the win-back message for you to approve, so it happens every week without you thinking about it.
